Police investigate truck plaza armed robbery

The owner of Phil's One Stop identified these two men on surveillance video as suspects in Friday morning's armed robbery of the gas station on W. Washington Center Road.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne police are investigating a possible armed robbery at a local gas station early Friday morning.

Around 1:15 a.m. officers were dispatched to Phil’s One Stop, 4221 West Washington Center Road.

A police K-9 officer tracked across the road to a parking lot. Detectives said no one was in custody and did not have any possible suspect information. It’s not clear if the possible suspects fled on foot or in a vehicle in the parking lot.

Phil’s One Stop provided NewsChannel 15 with surveillance video of the robbery. The tape shows two men enter the store through the north doors. The men wore masks covering their faces and were dressed in heavy coats. One man has an emblem on his coat that’s not entirely identifiable on video. The emblem is on the left chest of the jacket. The other man was wearing a dark-colored down coat.

The video shows the men pulling handguns after they entered the store. Eventually they made their way behind the counter to retrieve money and cigarettes. The entire robbery lasted just over a minute, according to the time stamp on the videotape.

Employees inside the store were not hurt. It’s not clear if any customers were inside the store at the time of the robbery.

Anyone who can identify the possible suspects or has any information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
