West Noble Boys and Girls Basketball

LIGONIER, Ind. (WANE) – This week’s Team of the Week is a double-dip featuring the West Noble boys and girls basketball teams who won the NECC tournament title in the same year for the first time in school history.

On Saturday the West Noble girls topped Fairfield 45-22 in the NECC tournament title game. Kelsie Peterson outscored the Falcons by herself, netting 26 points in the win.

It was the second NECC tournament title in program history (the first coming during the 1984-85 season) for the West Noble girls, who improve to 11-5 on the season. They are coached by Dale Marano.

The boys also brought home the NECC title on Saturday night, beating Westview 61-40. It was the program’s first NECC tournament title since the 1973-74 season. Brandon Moser led the way with 24 points while Drew Schermerhorn added 14.

West Noble is now 11-0 on the season and ranked no. 8 in this week’s 3A state AP poll.

The Chargers are coached by Jim Best.
