Two law enforcement officers running for Allen County Sheriff

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Two law enforcement officers in Fort Wayne will be running for Allen County Sheriff.

Indiana State Trooper Luke NaThalang and Allen County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy David Gladieux announced they will both be running for sheriff on the Republican ticket.

Sgt. NaThalang will formally announce his candidacy for sheriff during a press conference at the Allen County Republican Headquarters on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Sgt. NaThalang is a Concordia High School and Purdue University graduate. He has been a police officer for 29 years.

In April of 2013, Sgt. NaThalang received national attention for saving a man’s life after he had a heart attack behind the wheel.

The man was driving on I-65 when he suffered a heart attack and crashed into a semi. Sgt. Nathalang happened to be driving in the area and saw the crash. He gave the driver CPR until medics arrived.

Chief Deputy Gladieux has been with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department for 28 years. He was promoted to Chief Deputy in 2007. Gladieux is a lifelong resident of Allen County.
