WARSAW, Ind. (WANE) – A woman was seriously injured on Wednesday after her boyfriend accidentally ran her over in their driveway, police said.

According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, 39-year-old Tracy A. Prater, of Warsaw, got into a fight with her boyfriend, 37-year-old Benjamin D. Irvine, also of Warsaw, in the couple’s driveway.

Irvine then got into his car and began to back out of the driveway. Irvine told police he did not see Prater and accidentally ran her over.

Prater told police she walked behind the car before Irvine started backing up, and then slipped and fell on the icy driveway. She said the car then hit her, pinning her underneath.

Emergency responders had to extract Prater from under the car. Prater was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital in serious condition. Police said she suffered injuries to her chest, neck, and head.

Police said Prater told investigators at the hospital that the incident was an accident.
