Four arrested after armed robbery, standoff

This was taken in the 3300-block of Bowser Avenue around 11:55 p.m. Saturday.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Police arrested four juveniles after an armed robbery followed by a standoff on the southeast side of Fort Wayne Saturday night.

According to Fort Wayne Police Department Spokesperson Jason Anthony, police responded to the 3300-block of Bowser Avenue in reference to an armed robbery at around 8:20 p.m. Saturday.

Anthony said the victim told police he got out of his car on Bowser and was then approached by four juveniles. One of the suspects had a gun and demanded his wallet and cell phone. The four suspects then fled southbound on Bowser Avenue on foot.

Anthony said footprints in the snow led officers to a home in the 3500-block of Bowser Avenue. When police knocked on the door, the suspects inside refused to open the door or leave the home.

At around 10:15 p.m., SWAT was called in to assist police.

Around two hours later, the four suspects finally came out of the home. They were arrested and no injuries were reported, according to police.

Police said nobody else was in the house at the time of the standoff.

Anthony said each suspect will be charged with a single count of armed robbery. Due to the fact that the suspects are juveniles, their names will not be released at this time, according to police.

Oxford Street was shut down between Oliver Street and Robinwood Avenue for around four hours, according to police.

This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
