Man gets 65 years for teen’s murder

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – An 18-year-old was sentenced to 65 years in prison Friday morning after he gunned down and killed a 17-year-old back in April.

Deadrian Boykins, of Fort Wayne, was found guilty of murder on November 21. Boykins was arrested in April for the death of 17-year-old Elijah Freeman, three days after Freeman was gunned down in a backyard in Fort Wayne. Police said seven shots were fired in the incident.

Freeman was the 15th homicide victim in Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2013.
