FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A once abandoned Fort Wayne dog who dressed up as Miley Cyrus for Halloween is one of 20 finalists in a national pet costume contest.

Send us your Halloween photos | Cute kids, pets, spooky decorations? We want them all!

The photo entry, titled “Wrecking Ball – Muttely Cyrus,” features Groupie, a one and a half-year-old Miniature Dachshund dressed in a hot pink, sequined costume on top of a mini wrecking ball. The doggy is donning a blonde wig and has a hot pink microphone as an accessory.

Groupie recently made it to the top 20 out of nearly 10,000 entries in the PetSmart Monster Cute Contest. To vote for Groupie, click here.

Public voting begins at midnight on Friday, October 25 and continues to Tuesday, October 29 at 11:59 p.m.

The Monster Cute Contest is offering a $10,000 prize, which Groupie’s family plans on donating to the Humane Society and the Dachshund Rescue, along with several other shelters to help animals nationwide.

The pup’s family told NewsChannel 15 that Groupie was abandoned and in poor shape when her family rescued her. She had a Giardia infection and worms, but after months of healthy eating and many trips to the veterinarian, Groupie is now happy and healthy.

Groupie also entered the Petco Make A Scene Photo Contest, which is offering a $25,000 grand prize to the pet with the best costume. A Petco panel will be judging the winner based on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact, and artistic merit. To see the official rules of the contest, click here.

Besides the Grand Prize, there are three other categories in the contest: Dog, Cat, and Other Pet. Those winners will be determined through voting. People are able to vote on Facebook, by “liking” the Petco Facebook page.

You must vote for Groupie by October 27 at 9 p.m. You can vote once per day. To vote for Groupie, click here.
