FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The death of a man who was shot and killed in Fort Wayne on Saturday night has been declared a homicide.
Police responded to calls of shots fired in the 800-block of East Lewis Street just before 6 p.m. Saturday evening.
Around that time, a woman was driving down East Lewis, near Hanna Street, when she thought she saw a pile of clothes laying on the side of the street, police told NewsChannel 15 at the scene. It was later determined to be a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Algia Paul Robert Steward, 19, of Fort Wayne was taken to the hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead. Steward’s death is the 37th homicide for Allen County in 2013.
Police are still looking for a motive and suspects.
