FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The former treasurer of the Arlington School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is accused of stealing more than $24,000 from the PTA account she managed.
According to the Affidavit for Probable Cause, an audit into $24,439.50 missing PTA funds by the Indiana State PTA Council found that the loss was due to use of a debit card that Susan M. Rothenberger (aka, Susan Gadwood) had sole control of.
Rothenberger admitted to using the debit card for cash withdrawals while she was Treasurer, which is against PTA policy, according to the affidavit.
The findings of the audit were handed over to officials who believe the findings to be accurate. Rothenberger was arrested on Monday and faces one felony charge of theft.
NewsChannel 15 reported in August that the Indiana State PTA Council had voted to turn the investigation into missing funds over to the Fort Wayne Police Department.
