FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The woman who was found dead in her northside home by her daughter Friday afternoon has been identified. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Allen County Coroner Michael Burris said Debra Jones, 59, of Fort Wayne, died from loss of blood due to a sharp force injury to her neck.

Officers were called to Jones’ home, located in the Creekwood subdivision, Friday afternoon around 1 p.m. after Jones’ daughter apparently found her dead inside of the home, located at 5518 Myanna Lane.

The daughter told police she couldn’t get in touch with her mother so she went to the home to check on her.

Jones’ death is the 30th homicide in Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2013.

The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s office, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office. provides commenting on many stories to allow for constructive discussion.
