Suspect robs, shoots ice cream truck driver

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – An ice cream truck driver was robbed and then shot by a suspect near the intersection of Webster and Killea Streets Saturday evening, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.

FWPD spokesperson John Chambers told NewsChannel 15 that at around 8:30 p.m., a suspect approached an ice cream truck driver while he was stopped inside of the truck and demanded money. The man was armed with a handgun.

Chambers said the suspect shot the ice cream truck driver and then fled on foot. Police are unsure how much money, if any, he got away with.

As of Sunday morning, the suspect is still on the loose, according to Chambers.

Chambers said the victim is listed in serious condition.

The Report!t picture shows the ice cream truck near the intersection of Broadway and W. Jefferson Boulevard. According to police, the driver of the truck drove to this area after being shot.
