Victim identified in Huron Street shooting

Officials have identified the shooting victim in from Tuesday night at Ryan Keith Trejo, 32, of Fort Wayne.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Officials have identified the man who was shot and killed Tuesday night outside a home on Huron Street.

According to the Allen County Coroner’s office, the victim is Ryann Keith Trejo, 32, of Fort Wayne.  He was pronounced dead early Wednesday morning at a local hospital.

An autopsy determined Trejo died from gunshot wounds.

Neighbors in the area said Trejo never caused them problems in the neighborhood.

“I talked to the boy yesterday afternoon,” Joni Brown said Wednesday afternoon.  “He’s a nice little kid, young, worked every day.  I’ve never seen any problems out of him over there.”

Some neighbors heard the gunshots Tuesday night, and ran outside to see what happened.

“There were all kinds of police around,” Kay Gastright, who first thought the shooting was fireworks, said.

“As soon as I heard the bangs go off, I stood straight up and both my boys came running in,” Sue Barney said.  “I told them to stay inside.  [Police] were doing chest compression when I came out and saw him laying there.  Pretty soon they stopped and shook their head.  That’s when we knew it wasn’t good.”

Trejo’s death was ruled a homicide.  It marks the 19th homicide in Allen County in 2013.

Police do not have descriptions of any suspects or vehicles that might have been involved.

Anyone with information should contact Fort Wayne police or Crime Stoppers.
