Shooting on Lafayette Center Road

ROANOKE, Ind. (WANE) – The man shot in his abdomen Saturday died from complications from his gunshot wounds.

He’s been identified as Robert Kanyuh, 65. Kanyuh was pronounced dead at Lutheran Hospital around 10 p.m. Saturday night. He had been shot in his home during a reported home invasion around 11 a.m.

His death has been ruled a homicide.

Allen County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Jeremy Tinkel told NewsChannel 15 Saturday that Kanyuh was alone in his home in the 13600-block of Lafayette Center Road Saturday morning when another man came into his house and shot him. The shooter left the scene in a vehicle.

There has not been a vehicle or suspect description released.

Police were called to the scene around 11:38 a.m. Saturday. The shooting is still under investigation and a motive isn’t clear yet. While police called it a home invasion, Tinkel also said investigators are still trying to determine if the victim knew the suspect, if there was a forced entry or if there is anything missing from the home.
