Pat Hoffmann anchors NewsChannel 15′s First News and Noon shows with Terra Brantley and Greg Shoup. Hoffmann made the transition after eight years as WANE’s weekend sports anchor in January, 2008. “This is a challenge I’m really looking forward to”, Hoffmann said. “My love and passion for sportsis still there, but now I’ll be able to go to games and cheeras a fan. This job gives me a new set of opportunities to exploreand a chance to tell people’s stories in a different way.”

Pat’s broadcasting career began at a small station in Auburn, Ind., before joining the WANE TV team in 1995 as a photographer and fill-in sports anchor. He moved to WXIN inIndianapolis as a sports photographer/reporter before returning toWANE as the weekend sports anchor.

Pat has covered major events including the Indianapolis 500,Daytona 500, Final Four and Rose Bowl, but says his biggest thrill was covering Super Bowl XL in his hometown of Detroit.

Pat has been honored with Edward R. Murrow awards for sports reporting in 2003 and 2004. He’s also been awarded several Indiana AP Awards for sports reporting and was recognized by the Indiana Broadcasters Association for Best Sportscast in 2007 along with Randy Schiffman for the Highlight Zone’s coverage of the Colts victory in Super Bowl XLI.

Pat says the favorite part of his job is meeting fascinatingpeople. “Telling the stories of people who have overcome adversityis what drives me.”  Pat’s story about Hardingbasketball star Jermaine Muff is one of his favorites. “Here’s a 17-year-old kid with college coaches after him who suffers no tone, but two strokes. Amazingly, his attitude is still tremendous despite the incredible obstacles he faces. Being able to tell stories like Jermaine’s is what this business is all about.”
