LaMar Holliday is a multi-platform journalist for NewsChannel 15. He joined the news team in January 2012.
LaMar joins NewsChannel 15 after spending some time as a general assignment reporter at KBMT/K-JAC-TV in Beaumont, Texas. He’s reported on some stories that have received national attention such as the missing case of Sharon West and the execution of Lawrence Russell Brewer who was involved in the dragging death of James Byrd, Jr. in Jasper, Texas.
LaMar is originally from the “Circle City”, Indianapolis. He graduated from Broad Ripple High School, then went to Indiana State for two years. While at ISU, he spent time as News Director and On-Air personality for WISU-FM and a reporter for the campus newspaper. He then transferred to Eastern Illinois University where he got his degree in Journalism. While at EIU, he worked as a reporter/anchor/videographer for their live, nightly newscast on WEIU-TV. He has also spent some time reporting for WTVO-TV in Rockford, Illinois; WTIU-TV in Bloomington, Indiana, and got his first internship at WTHI-TV in Terre Haute.
He’s even won some awards for his reporting from the Illinois News Broadcasters Association. His work has also won him the INBA scholarship twice, being one of only four in the history of the organization to win the award more than once.
He’s happy to be back home in the Midwest, and even more happy to be in the Summit City. He’s looking to get involved in the community and can’t wait to give you “Coverage you can count on”!
When not on-air, he enjoys cooking a good meal, bowling, hanging out with friends and singing. If you see him around the area, stop and say “Hi!”
